Wine Regions of Italy

Cost: $45 Per Person

We will explore the diverse areas in Italy from the Alps to the heel of the boot plus Sicily.  We will cover soil, grapes, wine making techniques, growing conditions, and area flavor profiles.

Sold Out

Same Grape, Different Name
Tuesday January 15
Cost: $45 Per Person

When people move from place to place, they take their native grape vines with them.  Over the course of time, the new language affects the name of the grape, and the new soil and climate the way it tastes.  We will taste matched pairs of the ‘same’ grape, grown in different areas and see these changes.

Wine and Food Pairing
Tuesday February 12
Cost: $45 Per Person

With over 500 selections at W.I.N.E., you can always ask our knowledgeable staff to help you match that perfect wine for your dinner, but you can also do it on your own!  We will cover the reasons for wine and food pairings including flavor profiles, and when to match or contrast flavors.

An Exploration of Chardonnay
Tuesday March 12
Cost: $45 Per Person

Chardonnay is one of the most popular grapes but is considered a ‘blank slate’ by winemakers.  We will explore why this grape is so easily changed in the hands of different producers and the effects of wood, soil, climate and technique on what you drink.

An Exploration of Sauvignon Blanc
Tuesday April 9
Cost: $45 Per Person

More than almost any other grape, Sauvignon Blanc is dependent on the soil in which it is grown.  We will explore why different soil, growing conditions, and growing areas produce such interestingly different wines.

An Exploration of Pinot Noir
Tuesday May 14
Cost: $45 Per Person

Andre Tchelitstcheff, one of the founding fathers of the California wine industry once said, “God made Cabernet Sauvignon, where as the devil made Pinot Noir.”  This grape in Burgundy produces the king of wines, yet drives growers mad in the vineyards.  Why? Because even though it is difficult to grow, the resulting wines are elegant, complex, rich and worth all the bother.  We will explore different Pinot Noirs from different areas and producers to see why it is worth the bother!

The Wine Dinner/The 5-Minute Challenge
Tuesday June 11
Cost: $125 Per Person

taste Restaurant will prepare for a 4 course tasting menu high lighting the pristine seasonal ingredients Eli is known for. While we are enjoying an aperitif, wine director, Howard Hering will have 5 minutes to select wines to match each course, and defend his selections over dinner!  Will he be up to the task? Lets find out!
